Llama Trekking – Fun for everyone
We will start the day with a visit of Germany’s biggest camel farm. You will get a glimpse into the world of llamas, alpacas, bactrian camels and dromedaries. The owner of this place will give you some information about the keeping and the usefulness of llamas. After this short introduction you will have the opportunity to experience the animals in the fields. Then the llamas will get groomed and saddled with panniers. Now we will go for a walk with the llamas for approximately one hour around the valley.
After the little hike there is a lunch buffet waiting for you.
Good to know: You can’t ride on a llama. Unlike a horse it cannot withstand the weight of a person directly on its spine. While they are bred for carrying cargo, the weight of their packs are well distributed.
Thus fortified we will board the bus to a drive along the beautiful World Heritage Site called “Upper Middle Rhine Valley”.
We will have a stop at the picturesque city Ruedesheim. Amongst the many castles there are also two carillions that you should see and listen to. One rings every hour from the tower of the Ruedesheimer castle restaurant and hotel in the Drosselgasse. It shows various wooden figures to symbolize the four major wine vintages of the 20th century. The Drosselgasse is also one of the main attractions with all the half timbered houses to admire and lots of shops, bars and restaurants. The other carillon is made of original Meissen porcelain and can be admired in the windows of Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet where it is played every 30 minutes.
After a little break in this beautiful city we will continue on our way along the Rhine with two more stops. Our first stop at Niederwald Monument which will provide you with a breathtaking view over the river and at the surrounding castles (the mice tower, castle Klopp, castle Rheinstein, ruin of Ehrenfels and Bromserburg).
From here, we will continue towards St. Goarshausen from where you have a nice view at Loreley, castle Rheinfels, castle Katz and castle Mouse.
After that last stop we will continue alongside the river until we reach Koblenz where we will cross the Rhine and heat back towards Spangdahlem.
