The tradition of Polish pottery in Boleslawiec goes back over a hundred years, and now Polish pottery is famous all over the world for its durability, versatility, and beauty. Some things to remember when shopping in Boleslawiec:

Polish pottery has several different categories, which are marked on the bottom of each piece and range from GAT 1 to GAT 4. GAT 1 is the most durable and can be used for baking and serving, and is dishwasher and oven safe. GAT 2 can’t withstand as much heat; it is used mostly for serving and can only be hand washed. GAT 3 and 4 are mostly reserved for show items, like cookie jars or vases. There are many different patterns, but not all stores carry the same ones. If you see something you like, buy it. It might not be at the next store.
