Speyer is located beside the river Rhine - Founded by the Romans, it is one of Germany's oldest cities, which is dominated by the Speyer Cathedral, a number of churches and museums. In the cathedral, beneath the high altar, are the tombs of eight Holy Roman emperors and German kings.

Aside from many churches and the beautiful cathedral which is an UNESCO heritage site, you can also dive into Jewish history and visit the remains of a synagogue which is the oldest still standing Jewish place of workship from the Middle Ages in Europe. The Jewish ritual bath was first mentioned in 1126 and has remained almost completely unaltered through the centuries. It is located in “Kleine Pfafffengasse 22”. If you are more interested in a stroll through a park, you may enjoy a stroll through cathedral garden and visit the “Heidentuermchen” a tower in the former defensive wall of the city and check out the sculpture park.
